Do I Really Need a Sports Bra?

Simply put…YES!

The breast is made up of fatty tissue, not muscle. Because of this, once it is damaged or stretched, exercise cannot help the breast to regain its original firmness and condition.  Therefore to help prevent damage to the breast tissue the wearing of a supporting sports bra is strongly advised.

I noticed the last few weeks of running that my breasts were aching somewhat – but I thought my bra was good? I spoke to a few friends and was shocked to hear that many people do not even wear a sports bra when exercising, yet alone a correct one. So welcome – Be Seen With is going to make this a thing of the past! Think of your breasts ladies – they deserve to be kept in a decent bra when you train!

Sports scientist Dr Joanna Scurr from the University of Portsmouth, UK, discovered that a supporting sports bra prevents ‘bouncing’, and therefore stretching, of the sensitive breast tissue by 74 per cent, while a normal bra only compensates by 38 per cent.

So which bra should you choose?

Leading lingerie manufacturer Anita has been at the forefront of designing and producing sports bras for over 10 years.

Anita active sports bras have outstanding functionality in comparison to sport bras. Comprehensive preliminary tests guarantee an excellent fit and optimum support for all sporting activities, even in the larger cup sizes. The bras are made of breathable and temperature-regulating fabrics which guarantee the skin remains dry. Our high-performance sports bras support, shape and encompass the breast so well that it remains stable even when doing strenuous exercise, which is particularly important for women with larger busts. All items are developed and made on Anita’s own premises.

Anita Active has developed a range of bras for Light, Medium and Extreme impact users and cater for cup sizes B through to H meaning there should be something to suit every user.

These sound really good, and I have yet to test them. They do a few different types depending on sport activity and breast size. Let’s see if we can test and review these!
